WAIBS Ladies AuxiliaryOn April 8th, 1989, the Women’s Auxiliary held its first formal meeting, thus declaring to be a sisterhood to the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society headquartered in West Albany, New York. The founding charter members were established to support the brotherhood socially and act as a social organization for the members of the Auxiliary. Social events held during the year are bocce leagues and tournaments, dart leagues, dinner parties, a fashion show, a Memorial Day remembrance march, a pancake breakfast, outdoor picnics, participation in the Columbus Day Parade, a turkey raffle, and a Society and Auxiliary children’s Christmas party. The Women’s Auxiliary is a not-for-profit organization that also holds fund raising events to support charities within our community. Every year, an auction is held as a fundraiser with distributions made within the community. Donations are collected at Thanksgiving and Christmas and distributed as well. The Auxiliary began with a small group of charter members and has
grown to 130 members. The officers are: President, Vice President,
Treasurer, and Secretary. There is also a Sergeant-at-Arms and a
Chaplain. It is composed of women who have relatives that are members
of the Society, either deceased or present. The criteria to join
the Auxiliary is the candidate must be eighteen years or older and
their relationship is one of the following:
